  • About Me

One of my favorite pastimes as a kid was going through old albums and reliving those great moments in life. I guess that's what eventually brought me to this place of being a photographer. It's as if I am constantly in a state of nostalgia, relishing in the memories being created.

I believe we are all designed for relationships, we flourish with them and we suffer without. I am so fortunate to have a job that allows me not only to form new friendships, but also capture the growth, development, and sometimes culmination of some of the most important relationships around.

Whether it is from behind my camera or over a cup of coffee, I would love to get to know you and your story. Contact me to schedule a meeting!

    Blessings,

    Steve

Frank & Amy: Married

Frank and Amy came to me through a mutual friend whose wedding I shot a couple years back.  It was an instant connection!  They are incredibly warm, caring people who are full of passion!  As fellow foodies and Frank being in the restaurant industry, we connected multiple times before their big day over some crazy good eats and will continue to do so now that we are friends!  Their love for each other is evident, their adventure and journey is exciting, and I am so blessed to be able to have been and continue to be a part of it!! Thank you for trusting me with the most important day of your life!

Enjoy!

Nick & Lauren: Married

You saw pictures of these two for their engagement session back in October of last year, and I’m sure you all agreed back then on what an attractive couple they made.  Their wedding day made no exception to that rule.  We had a great time on a very beautiful, sunny day in February celebrating at the Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa.  Their excitement and love for each other was so evident and so fun to capture. Enjoy the images!!

Jackie Gattis: Maternity

Jackie contacted me through her friends Mark & Asha Harrington (the awesome family I did a newborn/lifestyle shoot for last year you can see here).  Jackie and her husband Jay currently have a little boy named Rylan and a little girl on the way named Ainsley!!  I was so honored that they loved my pics of the Harringtons so much that they were willing to trust me to capture this very special time leading up to meeting their new little nugget.  Who can argue with how gorgeous Jackie is with her red hair and what a beautiful family her, Jay and Rylan make??

Stay tuned because as soon as baby Ainsley enters into this world we will be doing Round 2 of pics with her as the center of attention!

Enjoy!

Of Mountain & Men: Big Bear, CA

I recently had the honor and pleasure of heading up to Big Bear Lake and spending a weekend with 55 super awesome guys, most from Redemption Church.  It was a weekend filled with some of the activities you would expect with that many guys…very competitive ping pong, foosball, billiards, bean bags, etc.  But it also included some pretty rad, intense encounters with God through a gorgeous hike up Castle Rock, eating epic BBQ (compliments of Ryan Haack), and very authentic worship in the evenings.

I am so privileged to be a part of a church community where the men are studs, not because they cuss, treat women like objects, and brag about how much money they make…but rather because they lead with their weaknesses, pray for their wives/girlfriends, and raise their hands to worship their God uninhibited by what the world recognizes as “cool”.

These are just a few fun shots from the weekend!

Cheers!

The Love Riot is here!!

Can I just say that I am beaming with pride and excitement right now?!!  Most of you out there know how I got married way out of my league to my high school sweetheart, Amber.  She is a woman full of passion, drive, integrity, creativity, compassion…basically overflowing with amazing qualities.  Ever since we were engaged to be married and started planning our own wedding, I saw this dream come alive in her to someday own her own wedding business.  Well my friends…after a lot of hard work and paying her dues, this dream has become a reality.

Amber poured countless hours into her jobs out of college.  The first 5 years were spent as a commercial interior designer with a big architecture firm in Costa Mesa.  The second, she was graciously offered a foot in the door of the wedding industry through an internship with the amazingly talented Jesi Haack of Jesi Haack Design.  Amber spent the past 3 years with Jesi as her lead wedding planner, learning the ropes from a seasoned professional.  At the end of this past wedding season, Amber received the unexpected blessing of gently being pushed out onto her own by Jesi who was taking her business in a “design-only” direction.  I say unexpected blessing because with out that push, it would likely have been another couple of years before Amber felt comfortable taking that leap into small business ownership.

But here we are…Amber, with the support of so many incredible people including many big fans from the wedding industry, has finally launched her own brand.  I can’t be happier for her as I am finally seeing her dream become a reality.  And people…I know I might sound pretty biased…but she is incredibly good at what she does!!  So for all your wedding planning needs, make sure you call The Love Riot!!
